What is Recalibrate Family Debriefing?

A Safe Place to Tell Your Story

Recalibrate provides a structured, biblically grounded space where cross-cultural workers can reflect, process, and integrate their ministry story in a safe and compassionate environment.

Refreshment for the Whole Family

Transition impacts every family member. Our parallel adult and children’s programs create shared language, meaningful conversations, and space for the entire family to process and grow—together.

Intentional Debriefing That Brings Renewal

Debriefing is a relational, guided process that helps missionaries unpack field experiences—acknowledging both loss and growth—so they can move forward with clarity, health, and purpose.

Time to Reflect. Space to Heal. Courage to Move Forward.

Through small groups, individual sessions, and biblical reflection, you’ll integrate past challenges and successes and begin discerning your next faithful step.

Refreshed and Realigned for What’s Next

Our goal is simple: that you leave renewed in spirit, grounded in identity, and equipped to navigate your next season of ministry with resilience and hope.

Only 2 hours from the Grand Canyon and an hour from Sedona…our ministry debrief is an easy add-on to your family trip of a lifetime!

Our venue, perched atop a hill overlooking mountain vistas and downtown Flagstaff, will host the debrief event at Brick and Beam. Enjoy spacious and comfortable gathering areas—inside and out—where the entire family can dine, laugh, gather around the fire, and share stories together. Housing is included with your stay, featuring luxurious accommodations and connected rooms designed with families in mind. Throughout the property, discover numerous private nooks, fireplaces, and dens that invite meaningful connection, personal reflection, and rest.

Together with Paracletos, Canyon Debriefing offers seasoned practitioners with extensive field and debriefing experience.

“This week has been a breath of fresh air in the midst of a furnace. We leave with a renewed strength and trust in the Lord and a reminder of the tools he has given.”

~ Mark

Frequently Asked Questions

Guests arrive on Friday afternoon (preferably between 3:00 and 5:00 pm). After a BBQ dinner with the hosts we will share a devotional and logistical overview. Each of the following five days will incorporate group conversations and interactive exercises in the mornings. Afternoons are dedicated to one-on-one sessions with the debriefers, and time for rest and reflection. We reconvene in the evenings to recap the day and enjoy one another’s fellowship.

We offer age-appropriate debriefing activities and opportunities for children 3 and up. Please contact us for details.

The main topics we will work through as a group, with the added personal debriefing available in the afternoons:

  • Cross cultural life is filled with paradoxes. We experience some of the best times of our lives on the field, as well as some of the worst. Incredibly joy-filled experiences along with devastating pain. Love for our host country while missing our passport country. We’ll help you accept these seemingly contradictory feelings without impairing your ability to move forward.

  • Stress can be positive as well as negative. Cross cultural workers endure more stress than they are usually aware of. This session will help identify the sources of negative stresses and will lay the foundation for later suggestions on how to cope. We will also explore the positive benefits of stress and how it can enhance your personal growth and ministry.

  • Grieving is a way of acknowledging the value of what was lost, but unprocessed grief can have long-term negative affects. All missionaries deal with myriad losses in the normal course of service. In this session we will explore the reasons for allowing ourselves to grieve those losses, and how to move on in a healthy way.

  • In this session we will talk about issues related to re-entry along with changes in life and ministry. Whether you are returning to the U.S. or another change in a long series, transitions can be unsettling and chaotic. We’ll help you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

  • Often cross cultural workers are so wrapped up in the work of the Lord that they lose sight of the Lord in doing the work. Our souls can feel anemic, parched. We will pour living water on your thirsty soul. And we’ll offer tools and resources to help you refresh yourself now and in the future.

  • Our venue is only 10 minutes from the Flagstaff Pulliam Airport (FLG). Phoenix airport (PHX) is a little over 2 hours south of us, with easy shuttle service up to Flagstaff. If you can get to Flagstaff we can arrange transportation to our venue.

  • Housing, meals, snacks, childcare for morning sessions, stores, group and private debriefing sessions- these are all included with the cost of your family’s debrief.

  • We are currently working on nailing down the exact price per person on this debrief, we should have that finalized by the end of April. Please reach out if you have ANY interest and we will do what we can to help make it possible to get you here. This is not an event we get rich on, we keep it to costs only!

Contact us to reserve your family’s spot! We are here to answer any questions you may have, we will try and reply within 48 hours.
